Barbara J. Baert, age 78, Joplin, Mo., passed away on Thursday, Feb. 8, 2018, at Freeman West Hospital after a sudden illness
Barbara was born May 14, 1939, in Centralia, Wash., daughter of the late Chester Ohlhausen and Allie Green Ohlhausen. She moved to Pittsburg, Kan., as a child and graduated from Pittsburg High School. She was a devoted Mary Kay Sales Director for over 30 years. She was a member of Joplin Area Business Club and volunteered at the Ronald McDonald House of Joplin. She was also very involved with her church where she was a Priesthood member of Community of Christ.
Survivors include her lifelong companion, David Baert; their children, Julie Stewart and Dave, of Fayetteville, Ark., Beth Brooks, of Carthage, Mo., Joe Baert and Christine, of Carl Junction, Mo., Jack Baert and Shelly, of Joplin, Jeff Baert, of Carl Junction; sister, Linda Crane and Jim of Independence, Mo.; brother, Gary Ohlhausen and Mary Ann, of Vaccaville, Calif.; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, Feb. 13, at 10 a.m. at Community of Christ, 1212 Goetz Blvd, with Pastor Terry McDermid officiating. Interment will follow in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with family serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends at Community of Christ on Monday from 6 to 7 p.m.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Ronald McDonald House of Joplin.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
