Betty M. Howard, age 86, of Joplin, Mo., passed away on Thursday, May 10, 2018, at Freeman West Hospital. She was born on May 30, 1931, in McDonald County, Mo., to Duddley Mitchell and Bertha (Johnson) Mitchell.
She worked at Boyer's Processing, Newman's, and also Walmart. Betty lived in the Galesburg, Mo., community for 33 years.
She married R. Warren Howard on Dec. 3, 1949, in Joplin. He preceded her in death on March 30, 1989.
Betty was also preceded in death by her parents; stepdad, Clarence Goff and stepmother, Wanda Mitchell; a son, Gerald D. Howard, on May 27, 2014; four sisters; and four brothers.
She is survived by her son, Harold Howard and his spouse, Wes Harris, of Ardmore, Okla.; sisters, Clara Keeter, of Watts, Okla., Carolyn Duncan, of Watts; brothers, Donnie Mitchell, of Siloam Springs, Ark., and Roy Mitchell, of Siloam Springs; grandsons, Shelby Howard and wife, Lindsey, of Joplin, Stacy Howard and wife, Alanna, of Joplin; Shawn Howard, of Joplin; great-granddaughters, Jodie and Carlie, of Joplin; great-grandson, Dalton, of Joplin; great-granddaughter, Aleah, of Joplin; sister, Hazel Landsaw, of Joplin; sister-in-law, Kay Goff, of Joplin; sister, Joann Phillips, of Joplin; and a brother, Tedd Goff, of Boyd, Texas. The family would like to give a special thanks to Gay Bentley, Connie Earnest and Susie Wilson for the loving care they provided for Betty.
The family will be present for a visitation on Monday, May 14, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Simpson Funeral Home, in Webb City, Mo. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 15, at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of Simpson Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery, in Carthage, Mo.
Services are under the direction of Simpson Funeral Home, in Webb City.
