Billie Jane Pemberton, age 82, Joplin, Mo., passed away on Thursday, Dec. 28, 2017, at her home. Jane was born Sept. 10, 1935, in Kellogg, Idaho, daughter of the late Clifford Sorenson and Lois Osborn Sorenson.
As a child she returned to Joplin with her family and graduated from Joplin High School. Jane retired from Johnson & Johnson, in California. After retiring, Jane and her late husband, Norman Pemberton, returned to Joplin to be closer to family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Norman J. Pemberton, who died Feb. 23, 2004; and several aunts and uncles.
Survivors include her children, Douglas Farris and wife, Karen, of Peoria, Ariz., Terry Farris, of Baltimore, Md., Chris Farris and wife, Blanca, Jared Farris and wife, Raeana, all of Springfield, Ill.; 10 grandchildren; cousin, Vickie Dean and husband, Jerry, of Joplin.
Memorial services will be Saturday, Jan. 6, at 4 p.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel. Her ashes will be interred, with her husband, in the Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, Minn., at a later date.
