Charla Kay Behan, age 67, of Joplin, Mo., passed away at 7:45 a.m. Wednesday, November 29, 2017, at Freeman Hospital West.
Charla was born November 30, 1949, in Joplin, and had lived in the Diamond-Joplin area most of her life. Charla was a member of the College Heights Christian Church, and was an administrative assistant at the church for 25 years, retiring in 2016.
Charla is survived by one daughter, Dr. Melissa Shabazz, Desoto, Kan.; one son, Al Shabazz, Atlanta, Ga.; her mother, Pat Rhodes, Joplin; one sister, Vicki Town and husband, Charles, Chanute, Kan.; a nephew, Andrew Town; and numerous cousins.
Memorial services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, at the Spring River Christian Village Chapel, with Jay St. Clair and Keith Wilkins, ministers, officiating. Burial will be in the Sterling Cemetery, east of Joplin.
Memorial contributions are requested to College Heights Christian Church, in care of the mortuary.
Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary and Crematory, of Joplin.
