Clayton Smith, 60, passed in Willmar, Minn., July 21, 2017 after a work accident. Clayton was born July 31, 1956. in Bartlesville, Okla. He has been a resident of the Carthage area for the past 12 years and moved from the Carl Junction area.
Clayton owned and operated Smith Masonry and did construction work as well. He was currently employed with Southpaw U.S.A. Inc.
Clayton was united in marriage to Julie Cupp May 15, 1999, in Eureka Springs, Ark. She survives.
Clayton is survived by one daughter, Kristie Smith, of Rogers, Ark.; two stepdaughters, Amanda Allen (Kyle), of Webb City, Jessica Irwin (Geratt), of Carl Junction; and two stepsons, Matt Hoffman, of Texas, and Christopher Hill, of Webb City; nine grandchildren, Avery Allen, Khloe Allen, Lena Smith, Charlee Heinz, Grady Irwin, Emma Hoffman, Brylee Hill, Layla Hoffman and one on the way; dear friend, Kris Heinz, of Carthage; two brothers, Mike Smith and Craig Smith; three stepbrothers, Tony Schowalter, Jason Callahan and Marcus Callahan; one uncle, Don Smith; and his stepmom, Joyce Smith, of Dewey, Okla. Clayton is preceded in death by his dad, C.R. Smith; and mom, Nancy (Pyle) George.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, July 27, at Ulmer Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 26, at Ulmer Funeral Home. Burial will be at the I.O.O.F Cemetery, Neosho, Mo.
