Colin's Story

Colin L. McMinn, 71, of Goodman, Mo., formerly of Baxter Springs, Kan., passed from this life on Sunday, August 13, 2017, at Mercy Hospital, after a recent fight with pancreatic cancer. Colin was born May 11, 1946, in Miami, Okla., to the union of Chester Martin and Evelyn (Mercer) McMinn.
Colin was united in marriage to Sue (Dowty) on May 11, 1988, in Baxter Springs.
Colin worked as a tire builder for B.F. Goodrich until the closing of the plant and then worked as a clerk and warehouseman for Empire District starting in 1987. Colin was a member of the Masonic Lodge #71 of Baxter Springs, Mirza Shriners of Pittsburg, Kan., and American Legion of Baxter Springs. Colin enjoyed his motorcycle and doing yardwork.
Colin is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Sue McMinn, of the home; one son, Greg McMinn and wife, Deborah, of Miami; daughter, Kelli Russell, of Springfield, Mo.; along with two grandchildren.
A celebration of life will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday, August 17, at Derfelt's Baxter Chapel. Masonic services will be held at 5:45 p.m., with visitation to follow until service time.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, in memory of Colin.
Colin has been entrusted to Derfelt's Baxter Chapel for cremation.
