Curtis Rex Carter, Jr., 81, born July 31, 1935, son of C. Rex Carter, Sr., and Ruth Key Carter, (both of Carthage, Mo.) passed away in Arizona surrounded by his loving family on February 13, 2017.
Curt was a graduate of Carthage High School, where he was proud to be a part of the ROTC program. Curt went on to study at Rice University and earned his degree in Engineering at the University of Missouri. During his time at Mizzou, he also became part of the Phi Gamma Delta (Fiji) fraternity.
After graduation, Curt worked at Rocketdyne in Missouri and eventually opened up his own business in San Diego, Calif., selling electronic organs and later pianos as well. During his lifetime, he lived in Carthage, Dallas, Texas, San Diego, Palmetto, Fla., and Anthem, Ariz.
Curt had four children, Vicki (& Chris) Herring, Tracey Carter (deceased), Carrie Carter, and Nick Carter; five grandchildren, Michael (& Dana) Herring, Katie Herring, and Matthew Herring and Christina Escoto and Dylan Escoto; and one great-grandson, Samuel Carter Herring. Curt also leaves behind his sister, Connie Carter, and her three sons, their wives, and children.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, February 25, at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. Rev. James Lee will officiate. Interment will follow the service at Park Cemetery, Carthage.
Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of Knell Mortuary.
