David Franklin Barnett, at age 70, went through the veil, out of our sight into the presence of God on August 27, 2017, in his home in Joplin, Mo. This was after a short illness, but a nearly five-year battle with CLL.
He was born February 11, 1947, in Vinita, Okla. He was the youngest son of Claude Barnett and Lorena (Glen) Barnett. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. When he got out of the Navy he returned to college and was a graduate of MSSU in 1974.

Barnett (wife Allie), of Cincinnati, Ohio; two beautiful granddaughters, Kendra Zickmumd (husband Ryan), of Springfield, Mo., and Kayla Seifried, of Joplin. They all survive him, as does his brother, Glen Barnett (wife Sue), of Joplin; and sister, Waunita Gooch, of Neosho, Mo. Also surviving are four nephews, two nieces and several great-nephews and nieces.
In 1984, with the help of his brother, he bought his first new truck and became a professional owner/operator truck driver. The last 19 years he drove teams with his son, Jeff.
He enjoyed a long happy life with his family and many friends.
