David  Pommert


David Pommert, age 63, of Joplin, MO, passed away on Tuesday, May 7, 2019, at home with his family at his side.
The son of John and June (Hill) Pommert, David was born April 29, 1956, at Freeman Hospital in Joplin. He was the eldest of four children.
He married Sandra Harris on April 10, 1976, in Jasper, MO.
David attended Missouri Southern State University, in Joplin. He was an avid fan of the Cincinnati Reds and Ohio State football teams. David worked in the fast food industry in management for many years and was the "first boss" to many employees. He served as president for Historic Murphysburg Preservation and was a former member of the Building Board of Appeals for the City of Joplin. He attended First United Methodist Church, in Joplin, and was a member of the bell choir.
David was preceded in death by his mother.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Pommert, of the home; daughter, Shannon and husband, Matt Bruffett, of Joplin; his grandson, Grayson Bruffett, of Joplin; his father, John Pommert, of Joplin; brothers, Rob Pommert and wife, Berta, of Neosho, MO, and Lincoln Pommert, of Joplin; and his sister, Elizabeth and husband, Nick Ashmore, of Joplin.
Funeral services for David will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 10, in the chapel of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary in Joplin, with Pastor Marsha Eichler and Pastor Roger Nichols officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, in Webb City. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Rob Pommert, Barry Sanborn, Darren Wilkerson, Brad Potter, Clay Wilkerson and Kevin Newby with Gary Odem, Steve Holt and Greg Harris serving as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends for visitation from 6 - 8 p.m. Thursday, in the chapel of the mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made payable to the First United Methodist Church, in care of the mortuary.
Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary, Joplin.
