Donald William McAuliff, age 64, of Palatka, Florida, passed away due to cardiac arrest on Friday, September 15, 2017, in Jacksonville, FL.
Born in Springfield, Illinois, on August 23, 1953, Don was the son of Dan and Lorraine McAuliff. He attended Springfield public schools and was also a graduate of Missouri Military Academy in Mexico, MO. He received a degree in Industrial Engineering from Clemson University in 1976.
Throughout his adult life, Don was involved with family, work, and community activities while living in Litchfield, IL; Joplin, MO; Gaffney, SC; and Palatka. In Gaffney, he was Plant Manager for Core Molding Technologies. From 2004 until his retirement in 2015, he was Plant Manager of Hubbell Power Systems in Palatka. He was a valued member of the Fraternal Order Of Eagles in Interlachen, US Veterans Post 104, and donated his time to numerous community events and organizations.
On Don 's Facebook page, he wrote, "I enjoy helping people enjoy life which helps me enjoy life.." He was known for his generous nature, sense of humor, entertainment skills, enthusiastic support of his Clemson Tigers, and - most of all - his devotion to friends and family, all of whom will miss him and remember him with love.
Don is survived by his mother, Lorraine McAuliff of Clemson, SC; children Audrey (Chad) Minor of Joplin, MO; Rachel (Jake) Merriman of Joplin, MO; Brian (Melissa) McAuliff of Andover, KS; and Jeff McAuliff of Kansas City, MO ; grandchildren Nolan, Landon, Laiken, Jocelyn, Hudson, Avery, Alden, and Paxton; and sisters Scotti (Ray) Cohn of Pendleton, SC and Ann Wright of Anderson, SC ; niece Brynna Kelley of Dallas, TX, and nephews Ryan Kelly of Asheville, NC, and Andrew (Taylor) Sutton of Anderson, SC.
Private services will be held Thursday at Sullivan-King Mortuary in Anderson, South Carolina. A Celebration of Life service will be held at a future date at the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Interlachen, FL.
