Donald Edward Zellmer, 74, of Riverton, Kan., passed from this life on Friday, December 22, 2017, at Freeman Hospital, Joplin, Mo.
Donald was born May 8, 1943, in Pittsburg, Kan., to the union of Edward and Wilma (Lortz) Zellmer.
Donald was united in marriage to Brenda (Dannels) Zellmer on February 19, 1982, in Miami, Okla.
Donald was a welder and inspector and worked for McNally's, Thermal Engineering, and B & D Fabrications, before retiring in 2005.
Donald was a member of the House of Prayer Church, Riverton, National Rifle Association, and the Joplin Rifle and Pistol Club. Donald enjoyed tinkering around in his shop, building various things and loved to shoot guns. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially spoonbill.
Donald is preceded in death by his parents; one sister; one son, Tommy Zellmer.
Donald is survived by his wife, Brenda Zellmer, of the home; one daughter, Bailey Zellmer, of the home; two sons, Wayne Zellmer and wife Debbie of Carl Junction, MO, and Joe Long and wife, Alicia, of Miami; mother-in-law, Betty Dannels, of Galena, Kan.; six grandchildren, Peyton and Gavin Long, Tyler and Garrett Gravison, Macy Dodson, and Kara Baugh; three great-grandchildren, Alex Dodson, Raelynn Creel, and Mercedes Calderon; three brothers-in-law, Greg Dannels and wife, Nancy, of Durant, Okla., Terry Dannels and wife, Glenda, of Grove, Okla., and Mark Dannels, of Galena; along with many cousins and friends.
Memorial services will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, December 30, at the House of Prayer Church, Riverton.
