Ervin Standlee, born December 16, 1925, died on October 24, 2017 at the age of 91.
He graduated from the 8th grade in Urbanette, Ark., and from high school at KCCBS, in Overland Park, Kan. He attended college at KCCBS and graduated in 1967 from Pittsburg State Teacher's College, in Pittsburg, Kan. Ervin earned his masters from the same university, in 1972. He felt education was important to everyone. Ervin taught at Diamond and Avilla, Mo., and also served as the elementary principal for both schools.
He served in World War II as a medic and worked in the concentration camp, Mauthausen-Gusen, in Austria.
Ervin became a Christian, at the age of 14, while attending the first night of a revival in the Nauvoo, Mo. grade school. He served as pastor for the Silver Moon Church of God Holiness for more than 30 years. He also pastored at the Church of God Holiness in Seneca and Log Church. He was a faithful Christian and his children knew that God came first in his life. Ervin loved the Lord, he looked forward to the spring, his favorite season, when the ground and trees came to life again. He appreciated a bountiful crop, whether it was corn, potatoes or blackberries. He enjoyed raising cattle and horses, excited that each spring there would be the birth of calves and colts.
Ervin was competitive in all games, loving to win, whether it was word games, horseshoes, baseball, trivia or dominoes with his wife, children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Ervin loved to sing and listen to gospel music.
He is survived by three sons, Russell (Lucille) Standlee, of Kansas City, Mo., James (Sue) Standlee, of Neosho, and Dwight Standlee, of Neosho; one daughter, Donna (Greg) Foster, of Tecumseh, Kan.; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
