Everett "Tod" Stokes, 88, passed away Wednesday, November 15, 2017, peacefully at home surrounded by family.
A memorial gathering will be held Sunday, November 19, from 2 to 4 pm at Moore Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be held later in Joplin, Mo.
Tod retired from Transamerica Life in 1989, where he was the Director of Brokerage. He served in the 28th Army Division Recon from 1951 to 1952.
Upon returning, he married Jo Huston on September 4, 1953.
Tod and Jo traveled extensively, particularly enjoying Switzerland. Tod played third base for Senior Softball for 19 years, winning five national world championships.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Leona and Otho R. Stokes; and his grandson; Jordan Stokes.
Tod is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jo; his son, David Stokes and wife, Janice; two daughters, Karen Price and Jan Stokes; three grandchildren, Jeremy Stokes, Jennifer Mohon and husband, Kyle, Jon-David Alexander and wife, Lauren; four great-grandchildren, Hannah, Preston, Deacon and Drake; sisters, Eulah Gollhofer, Betty Thompson, Joan Harvey and Janine Stokes; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mission Arlington, pulmonaryfibrosis.org, or a charity of your choice.
