Fern's Story

Fern June Jackson, age 98, a life long resident of Joplin, Mo., went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 5, 2017, after a short illness.
She was born February 26, 1919, in Iola, Kan.
Fern was employed at Newman's Department Store as a sales associate, where she retired. She was a proud and devoted member of Saints Memorial Church of God in Christ, Galena, Kan., and thoroughly loved and enjoyed the fellowship of her church family.
She and Theodore Gerald Jackson were united in marriage on September 11, 1937, and celebrated 72 years of marriage. To their union were born four children, Theodore W. Jackson, Gerald L. Jackson, Donald F. Jackson, and Janis L. Jones.
Survivors include her son, Theodore W. of Denver, Colo.; three grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; her sons, Donny and Jerry; and by her daughter, Janis Lee.
Funeral services have been scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday, March 13, 2017, at Mason-Woodard Chapel. Visitation will be 12 p.m. until service time. Burial will be at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
