Florence Madeline Kitch, age 90, Galena, Kan., passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2017, at Freeman West Hospital.
Florence was born February 10, 1927, in Galena, daughter of the late Reavis L. Hampson and Ethel Faye Dobson Hampson. She was a lifelong resident of Galena, and graduated from Galena High School. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, and was a member of First United Methodist Church, of Galena. Florence was the owner and operator of Katrina's Fashion, in Galena, for over 25 years.
In addition to her parents, Florence was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Kitch Sr.; a daughter, Cheryl Shallenburger; brother, Charles Hampson; and two sisters, Maxine Poteet and Margaret Christman.
Survivors include her son, Lloyd Kitch Jr. and wife, Deborah, of Galena; daughter, Pamela Lloyd, of Riverton, Kan.; grandchildren, Michelle McCumber and husband, Gerald, Angie Higgins and husband, Chris, Jason Lloyd and wife, Whitney, Jeff Kitch, Brian Shallenburger and wife, Lisa, and Jerry Shallenburger; great-grandchildren, Dylan Higgins, Lakyn Shallenburger, Emmy Higgins, Laural Shallenburger, Luke Shallenburger, Lucy Lloyd, Sylvia Lloyd, and Wyatt Lloyd; several nieces and nephews include Dr. Chris Christman and Reva Hopkins; and her very good friend, Myra Carlisle Frazier.
Graveside services will be Monday, December 18, at 11 a.m. in Oak Hill Cemetery, Galena, with Rev. Bob Dart and Pastor Michael Pearce officiating. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Mo., on Sunday from 6 to 7 p.m.
