Heaven has received another Angel. James E. Bratcher Jr. went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Thursday, July 20, 2017. He will be missed by many family members and friends.
James was born on September 20, 1941, in Dallas, Texas, the son of the late Camille and James E. Bratcher Sr. He served in the United States Army.
From the young age of fifteen James worked as a truck driver, until a back injury forced him to retire in 1999. He was an ordained minister and chaplain, he spread the wonderful news of our Savior Jesus Christ. He had the pleasure of ministering in multiple prisons and jails across many states.
In April of 1988 he met and married a woman of God, Sharon R. Lansaw-Bratcher, and she worked by his side in his prison ministry.
James was preceded in death by his parents, Camiells Bolls and James E. Bratcher Sr.; his step-dad, Grady Bolls Sr.; his brother, Grady Bolls Jr.; and a nephew, Larry Goodman.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Bratcher, Joplin; one daughter, Ronda Villio, Willis, Texas; three stepdaughters, Linda Gideon and husband, Scott, Carterville, Mo., Sherry Mahurin and husband, Steve, Joplin, and Becky Bratcher, Joplin; two stepsons, Rick Lansaw and wife, Belinda, Joplin, and Michael Bratcher, state of California; two sisters, Brenda Walker, Bryan, Texas, and Beverly Timpson, Dallas, Texas; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
James will be cremated with a memorial service to be held at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
