James E. Ginn

James E. Ginn James E. Ginn Jr., of Miami, Okla., passed from this life on Tuesday, November 27, 2018, at The Communities of Wildwood Ranch, in Joplin, Mo. He was 90.
James was born August 15, 1928, in Buffalo, Mo., to James Earl and Luna Eunice (Rains) Ginn Sr. He moved to Fairland, Okla. mid-term in his freshman year in high school. He graduated in 1947 from Fairland High School, enjoying 3½ years of high school sports in Fairland. He went to work for B.F. Goodrich, in Miami, immediately after graduation, and was a senior shift foreman, retiring in 1986 after 39½ years of service.
He enrolled in the Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association (O.S.S.A.A.) as a sports official in the fall of 1948 officiating football and basketball games for 40 years. He was inducted into the Oklahoma High School Officials Hall of Fame. James served as president for Northeastern Oklahoma Officials Association for many years. He served on the football and basketball board of officials for the O.S.S.A.A. for one term, one year as vice president and one year as president. He joined the Oklahoma Inter-Collegiate Conference serving as president for one year and officiated four playoff games. He was a member of the Big Eight Football Officials Conference, working O.U. and O.S.U. freshman football games.
After retirement James worked as a grounds keeper for Shangri-La Resort, in Afton, Okla. He was a charter member of Bethany Christian Church, in Miami, where he served as elder, deacon, chairman of the board and he served on the building committee. He served two terms on Miami School Board and was an early organizer of N.E.O. Credit Union, in Miami, where he served as president and other offices for many years. He had been a member of Miami Kiwanis Club and Miami Golf and Country Club where he was an avid golfer.
James was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Victor Ginn, Emma Jo Kahler and Jean Ellis.
James is survived by his wife, Billie L. Ginn, of the home; two daughters, Debbie Lorimer and husband, Pat, of Joplin, and Karen Wilson and husband, Richard, of Tulsa, Okla.; one sister, Paula Eaton, of Riverside, Calif.; three grandchildren, Richard James Wilson and wife, Courtney, Brian Patrick Lorimer and wife, Jamie, and Kara Ann Weber and husband, Jim, of Lamar, Mo.; 11 great-grandchildren, Chase, Carter and Chloe Rose Wilson, Azariah and Chandler Lorimer, Chey Lewis and husband, Skylar, Miranda Lorimer and Andrew Mitchell and Daisy, Jerome, Jasper and Jules Weber; one great-great-grandson, Connor Mitchell, and another great-great-grandchild on the way.
The family wishes to thank and acknowledge three faithful caregivers, Christian Meyer, Louietta Williams and Eugenia McElheny, Dr. Bradford Stephens and Osborn Drug.
Celebration of Life services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, December 6, at Paul Thomas Funeral Home Chapel, in Miami, officiated by Pastor Leon Weece.
Memorials are suggested to the charity of donor's choice.
Services have been placed in the care of Paul Thomas Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Miami.
