James Roland Lane, Sr., 72 years old, of Kibler, Arkansas, went to be with his Lord and Savior before dawn on June 29, 2017.
James was born February 26, 1945 in Paris, Arkansas to Roland and Ratha Lane, who preceded him in death. He was a member of Kibler United Methodist Church and a retired supervisor at Rheem Manufacturing Company, where he worked in the press department for 28 years. James will be remembered for his quick wit, sense of humor, and devotion to his wife, Penny, with whom he celebrated 50 years of marriage on April 28 and was her primary caregiver. He served his community as President of Fort Smith Church League baseball in the '70s and '80s, leading Cavanaugh United Methodist to league championships at most levels, coaching the FAITH Crusaders to two homeschool basketball national semifinal appearances, teaching a Sunday School class at Kibler United Methodist, and serving as a Crawford County Justice of the Peace from 2011-15.
James is survived by his wife Penny Lane (née Fingerhut) of Kibler, Arkansas; sons James Lane, Jr. and wife Angie of Van Buren, Arkansas, Michael Lane, Sr. and wife Brandee of Conroe, Texas, and Mark Lane of Queen City, Texas; daughter Monica Miller (née Lane) and husband Zachary Miller of Archbold, Ohio; two sisters, Betty Cochran (née Lane) of Huntsville, Alabama, Lequetta Yates (née Lane) and husband Alton Yates of Kibler, Arkansas; 11 grandchildren; and a number of other relatives.
A memorial service will be 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 7 at Kibler United Methodist Church with Pastor Jerry Hovater officiating.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, July 6 at Kibler United Methodist Church.
Per James' final wishes, his remains will be cremated.
