James Ray Price, age 90, of Joplin, Mo., passed away on Friday, Jan. 12, 2018, following an illness.
Jim was born on Sept. 2, 1927, in Princeton, N.C., the son of William H. and Cora (Wiggs) Price. He proudly served his country in the Pacific as part of the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Following his service, Jim moved to the area and began working for Eagle Picher as a battery builder. He worked there for 37 years before retiring in 1992. Jim served as a deacon for the First Christian Church, in Joplin.
He married Barbara Schreier in 1949. She preceded Jim in death in 1992.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Earl Price; sister, Jennie Daughtry, and by a granddaughter, Kristina Price.
Survivors include two sons, Bob Price and wife, Michelle, of Joplin, James B. Price and wife, Marcia, of Raytown, Mo.; two daughters, Marsha Rudd, of Springfield, Mo., Sandy Flanagan and husband, Jim, of Olathe, Kan.; six grandchildren, Sunny, Elizabeth, Kelli, Darci, Daniel and James; and five great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Christian Church or Crosslines, in care of the mortuary.
A memorial service has been scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 19, at the Mason-Woodard Chapel. Rev. Fred Pugh will officiate. The family will receive friends during a time of visitation following the service.
