James (Jim) Leroy Wallace, age 76, passed away at his home in Webb City, Mo., surrounded by his family on Feb. 1, 2018. He was born in his hometown on Jan. 11, 1942, to Myrtle Virginia (Miller) Wallace and Leonard Leroy Wallace.
Jim graduated from Carterville High School in 1960 and joined the naval reserves. He served active duty in Pearl Harbor.
On Oct. 17, 1963, he married his high-school sweetheart, Jean Louise Johnson.
He spent most of his career as a land surveyor, retiring after 16 years of service as the Public Works Director for the City of Webb City. His favorite hobbies were fishing, golfing and going to Webb City High School football games.
He is survived by his children, Ron Wallace (wife Beckie), Brenda Phillips, Teresa Van Becelaere (husband Eric); and his sister, Shirlene Osborne (husband Don). He has five grandchildren and three great-grand-children.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, Feb. 5, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Simpson Funeral Home, in Webb City. The family will be present for a visitation on Monday from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery.
