Joseph "Dale" Kelley was born in Chaplain, Ill., on Nov. 16, 1921.
As an infant, Dale moved to Columbus, Kan., where he lived with his parents and siblings until the age of 18. From there, he moved to Hamilton, Ohio and worked for his uncle in his grocery store.
While living in Hamilton, he met Mildred "Mimi" Murray. In June of 1941 he and Mimi were married. Together they welcomed three children, Norman Wayne Kelley, Carole Kelley Jiggins and Joseph Dale Kelley III (who predeceased him in June 1991).
In 1958 Dale and Mimi moved their children to southern California. It was there that he worked as an insurance broker until 1978 when he retired and more back to Columbus. Though he was retired, Dale worked endlessly as both a farmer and restaurateur.
In February of 2004, he lost his beloved wife Mimi. On Sept. 1, 2016, he was finally reunited with her.
Dale leaves behind his son, Norman, and daughter, Carole, and their spouses; his five grandchildren and his 10 greatgrandchildren.
He will be laid in his final resting place, in Columbus, in a private ceremony.
