Joseph Hal Robertson, age 91, Joplin, Mo., passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2017, at Joplin Gardens.
Joseph was born July 26, 1926, in Greensburg, Kan., son of the late Sydney Lyle Robertson and Mary Frances Matthews Robertson. He graduated from Joplin High School before serving his country in the United States Army during World War II. He worked for Braeckels for nearly 20 years before going to work for W.R. Grace where he retired in the late 1980s. He was a devoted member of Forest Park Baptist Church, where he served on many committees over the years, was a deacon, and a Sunday school teacher for many years, mainly working with the youth.
In addition to his parents, Joseph was preceded in death by two brothers, Lee Robertson and Lynn Robertson.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Shirley Dickson Robertson; son, Hal Robertson and wife, Stacey, daughter, Melanie Patenaude and husband, Tony, all of Joplin; nine grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be Wednesday, December 6, at 11 a.m. at Forest Park Baptist Church, with Dr. John Swadley officiating. Interment will be private in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Forest Park Baptist Church on Tuesday from 5 to 6 p.m.
The family request that memorial contributions be made to the Forest Park Baptist Church Missions Fund.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
