Larry Cross was called home Thursday, November 30, 2017, after a long illness. He was born April 24, 1937, in Hershey, Neb., to Lloyd Kenneth and Rachel (Bonta) Cross.
Larry met his wife, Judy (Herbaugh) Cross, in North Platte, Neb.; they married July 15, 1963, in Thedford, Neb. She preceded him in death on May 27, 2012.
The family moved to Fairview, Mo. in 1976. Larry worked for the railroad in North Platte; Fleming Foods, in Joplin, Mo.; Bray Trucking, in Carthage, Mo.; and Newton County Common Road District, where he retired. He loved working outdoors and was skilled with AC, heavy machine operation, road grading, and bull dozing.
Larry is survived by five children: Linda Dahl, Maricopa, Ariz., Charles Cross and wife, Evelyn, Exeter, Mo/. Deneise Hance and husband, Jeff, Stella, Mo., Hazel Cross-Long, Fairview, and Melissa Smith, Ava, Mo.; 13 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and four siblings: Sally Funk, Escondido, Calif., Jerry Griffiths, Cape Girardeau, Mo., Sister Susan Peregan, Heartwell, Neb., and Sherry Garcia, Baskerville, N.C. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Boyd Cross; a grandson, Cody Weston Long; and a brother, John Griffiths.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, December 8, at Clark Funeral Home, Granby Chapel, with Tony Intessimone officiating. Interment will follow at the Dice Cemetery, Fairview. The family will receive friends between 5-6 p.m. Thursday, December 7, at the Granby Chapel.
