Larry D. Davenport, 85, Carthage, Mo., passed away Thursday evening, November 9, 2017, at his home after a lengthy illness.
Larry Duane Davenport was born November 2, 1932, in Ava, Mo., to Lewis Davenport and Maxine Davenport (Privett). He was a graduate of Neosho High School, class of 1951.
Larry married Noline Marie Goddard on December 25, 1954. She preceded him in death on February 20, 2016.
He retired from the Air Force in 1972 after 20 years of service. He served in Vietnam and was awarded the distinguished flying cross. After retirement from the Air Force he worked the next 23 years for Tri-State Motor Transit. Larry was an active member of the First Christian Church and helped in the Hospital Equipment Ministry.
Survivors include one daughter, Cassy Nuse, Carthage; one son, Steven Davenport, Carthage; one sister, Glenda Tupling, Wenatchee, Wash.; five grandchildren, Abby (husband Jeremiah) Reeve, Kiefer Nuse, Madison Peddy, DeeDee Davenport, Darren Davenport; one great-grandchild, Christopher; two step-grandchildren, Zachary Nuse, Kristina (husband Gary) Fohrenck; and four step-great-grandchildren, Tyler, Lacey, Lexy, and Ally. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife' one daughter, Cristy Lynn Peddy; two sisters, Jewell Egley, Patricia Rippee; and one brother, Allen Rippee.
Visitation was held 6-7 p.m., Monday, November 13, at Knell Mortuary. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, November 14, at Knell Mortuary. Rev. Gordon Souder officiated. Interment followed at Park Cemetery.
