Lillian Corine Harper Black, age 100, passed away at her daughter's home, in Diamond, Mo., on Tuesday, October 10, 2017.
She was born to the late Elmer and Nancy Harper, in Prosperity, Mo., in a mining shack and she had lived in the Duenweg and Webb City, Mo. area her entire life.
She was married to the late Clifford Nathanial Black, of Alba, Mo.
Corine was employed at the former Elmhurst Rest Home, in Webb City, and she retired in 1985 after 23 years of employment.
Family and friends were very important to her. She was a member of the Duenweg Assembly of God Church.
Corine, as all knew her, was a dedicated mother, grandmother, and friend. She loved to cook, crochet, play dominoes and work crossword puzzles.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Inez Hodges; three brothers, Clarence, Harold, and Dwight Harper; one son, David Black; one daughter, Jane Mitchell; and one granddaughter, Tonya Black Spencer; three sons-in-law, LeRoy Lambeth, Cliff Drake and Richard Mitchell.
Corine is survived by one son, Delbert Black, Reeds, Mo.; two daughters, Judy Lambeth, Carthage, Mo., Susan Drake, Diamond; one sister, Gladys Harper Wynne; eight grandchildren, June Haynes, Belinda Kirkland, Scott Drake, Micki Drake Stembridge, Craig Black, Curtis Black, Glenn Black; 14 great- grandchildren, four great- great-grandchildren; plus one great-great-grandchild on the way; and one great-great-God-grandchild, Bailey Drake; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family extends many special thanks to Cathy Hobson for caring for their mother for 16 years, as well as to Oxford Hospice and Home Healthcare Givers for their special attention given.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, October 16, at the Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home, with Greg Turner officiating. Burial will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 1 p.m. Monday prior to the service.
Contributions, in memory of Corine, may be made to Oxford Hospice, and sent in care of the funeral home.
Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of the Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home, Webb City.
