Linda "Kay" Egbert, 75, passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at her residence, in Columbia, Mo. She was born in Los Angeles, Calif., on September 18, 1941, the daughter of Harry Jack Holt and Eva Bernice (Osborn) Holt.
On April 29, 1989, in Columbia, she was united in marriage to Chris Egbert, who survives at their home.
Kay was a 1959 graduate of Joplin High School, in Joplin, Mo. After graduation, Kay became a certified court reporter and was employed as such until her retirement in 2001. She was a member of The King's Daughters & Sons, the Columbia Garden Club and the Certified Court Reporters Association. In her spare time, Kay enjoyed scrapbooking and cake decorating. Other pastimes that Kay loved were playing cards and Mahjong with friends.
Kay is survived by her husband of 28 years, Chris; her daughters, Kari Walker-Spence, of Georgia, Coco Chanel (Shih-Tzu), of Columbia; stepdaughter, Michele Egbert-Nichols, of Columbia; stepson, Jesse Egbert, of Ashland; her daughter-in-law, Michelle Walker, of Georgia; her brother, Frankie Martorana, of Kansas; her stepsister, Peggy Holt, of California; and eight grandchildren. Kay was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Doug Walker, of Georgia; and her brother, Larry Holt, of Joplin.
A Celebration of Life will be occurring on Sunday, October 1, from 1 to 3 p.m. at Parker Mortuary, located at 1502 South Joplin Avenue, Joplin, MO 64804.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to King's Daughters Home, 620 West Boulevard Street, Mexico, MO 65265.
