Maria (Poelma) Edwards, age 64, of Wildwood, Mo., went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 22, 2017.
She was born August 20, 1953, in Joplin, Mo., the daughter of Wilhelmus J. Poelma and Grace (Watson) Poelma.
She graduated from Galena High School and attended Pittsburg State University, where she met her loving husband, James C. Edwards. Together, during the course of their 42 year marriage, they raised three children and fostered seven babies.
Maria found great joy in flower gardening and had an exceptional talent for landscaping. Family was always her number one priority, immediately followed by anything that bloomed beautifully from God's green earth.
Maria is survived by her siblings, Kees Poelma and Dianne Bailie; her husband, James Edwards; her three children, Kimberley Pace, Nathan Edwards, and Stephanie Custer; as well as three granddaughters, Chloe Pace, Morgan Edwards, and Samantha Edwards. She also leaves behind a number of loving relatives and friends.
The family wishes to thank all those who cared and prayed for her during the past few years. A special thanks goes out to Maple Wood Alzheimer's Special Care Center in Springfield, Mo., for taking such genuine, loving care of her during her illness.
There will be a Celebration of Life Ceremony on Saturday, December 9, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Aurora, 201 S. Jefferson Ave., Aurora, MO, 65605.
