Marsha Rose (Klofkorn) Smith Marsha Rose (Klofkorn) Smith, age 68, of Frisco, Texas, passed away on March 2, 2019. She was born on December 16, 1950, to Marshall Jack and Betty Rose (Dice) Klofkorn, in Blackwell, Okla.
Marsha graduated from Joplin (Mo.) Senior High in 1968, she went on to marry Gilbert Alan Smith on January 25, 1969, in Joplin. After 43 years of marriage, Marsha was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Alan Smith.
She was also preceded in death by her father, Marshall Jack Klofkorn.
Marsha went on to graduate from University of North Texas, where she majored in mathematics and teaching. She then attended the University of Texas at Dallas, where she graduated with a masters in accounting prior becoming a CPA. Marsha retired from Atmos Energy, in 2012, after 20 years of dedicated service.
Marsha lived as a type 1 diabetic for 38 years. She was diagnosed with ALS in 2018.
She is survived by her sons, Braden (Brady) Scott Smith and wife, Kathryn, of Frisco, Aaron Russel Smith and wife, Kim, of Scottsdale, Ariz.; grandchildren, Bailey Kate Smith and Landen Blake Smith; mother, Betty Rose (Dice) Klofkorn, of Joplin; sister, Konnie Jan (Klofkorn) Lea and husband, Dennis, of St. Louis, Mo.; nephews, Jason Lea and wife, Carolyne, Justin Lea and Mike Copeland; niece, Whitney (Lea) Mitchell and husband, David; sister-in-law, Donna (Smith) Copeland, of Fayetteville, Ark.; her uncle, Gary Klofkorn, of Oklahoma City; and seven great-nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be held at the Saint Philip's Episcopal Church on March 15, at 1 p.m., 6400 Stonebrook Parkway, Frisco TX 75034, Rev. Greg Methvin officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, JDRF or the ALS Foundation.
