Mary's Story

Mary Lou Hudson, 88, of Sarcoxie, Mo., departed this life on Tuesday evening, September 26, 2017, at the Galena Nursing Center. Mary entered this life on October 19, 1928, in Ottawa County, Okla., to the union of the late Thomas and Tencil (Couffer) Allgood.
For several years she worked as a nurse, in Springfield, Mo., and later moved to Illinois. Mary always said the greatest joy of being a nurse was delivering babies and patients that she once cared for would always stop to visit with her.
On June 28, 1968, she was united in marriage to Lee Royce Hudson, in Centralia, Ill. After living in Illinois for several years, they returned to Sarcoxie, in the early '70s.
Mary was an amazing cook, enjoyed gardening and being a housewife. She especially loved spoiling her husband. Mary truly loved caring for people. She will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; daughter, Karen Buehler; four sisters and five brothers.
Mary is survived by her stepdaughter, Donna Hudson McGinty, of Joplin, Mo.; two grandchildren, David Buehler and wife, Ann, of Mt. Vernon, Mo., and Kirstie Wilson, of Joplin; two great-granddaughters, Madison Wilson and Devin Buehler; sister, Colleen Black, of Joplin; brother, Jack Allgood, of Joplin; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services are 11 a.m. Saturday, September 30, at Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home, in Sarcoxie, with Chaplain Roger Hasselquist officiating. Visitation will be 10 a.m. prior to the service. Burial to follow in Sarcoxie Cemetery. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are Steve Smith, Ray Letsinger, Roger Mitchell, David Buehler, Jim Walker and Zachary Smith.
The family has requested memorials be directed to Avalon Hospice and may be left at the funeral home.
