Mary E. Rausch-Smith, age 96, of Webb City, Mo., passed away Saturday, Dec. 30, 2017, following a decline in health. She was born May 5, 1921, in Webb City, to Tan and Misha (Thompson) Benintendi.
Mary worked for Big Smith as a seamstress and then worked as a clerk for Bruner Pharmacy. She enjoyed flowers and loved candles. She was a regular contributor to several different charities. Her family was very important to her and she loved them all.
She married Mike Rausch; he preceded her in death. She later married Earl Smith; he also preceded her in death.
Mary was also preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Jeanne Rausch Smith; two brothers, Bob and Ralph Benintendi; one sister, Marge McAdams, as well as two other sisters; and two granddaughters, Chandra Rausch Young, Stephanie Rausch.
Mary is survived by two sons, Charles Rausch, Elbert Rausch; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and 12 great- great-grandchildren; as well as numerous extended family and friends.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 4, at the Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Toney officiating. Burial will follow at the Carterville Cemetery. The family will receive friends 6 - 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions are requested to Easter Seals and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of the Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home, Webb City.
