Melba Duckett, 74, passed away Friday, May 19, 2017, at her home, in Joplin, Mo. Melba was born July 23, 1942, in Carthage, Mo., to Herbert Crow and Ilene 'Stiles' Crow.
Melba was a lifetime resident of Carthage, a homemaker . . . and The World's Best Crappie Jig Tie-er.
Melba was united in marriage to Glenn Duckett Jr. on February 11, 1972, in Carthage; he preceded her in death January 29, 2007.
Melba is survived by one son, Glenn Duckett III and wife, Amanda, of Diamond; two daughters, Pennie Channel, of Carl Junction, and Sandy Maxwell and her partner, Billy Russow; four sisters, Delores Tatum and Sue Slaughter, of Joplin, Janett Crow, of Miami, Okla., and Debbie Smith and husband, Richard, of Carl Junction. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Clint Holland, Matt Maxwell, Ryan Green, Clayton Norwood, Huntyr Duckett, Ethan Duckett, Kynlee Duckett and Teegan Duckett; seven great-grandchildren, Layton Green, Lincoln Green, Ezra Green, Syler Maxwell, Crew Holland, Lillie Norwood and Payton Norwood. Melba is preceded in death by one brother, Darrell Crow.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 24, at Park Cemetery, in Carthage.
