Norman Richard Youngberg, 78, Springfield, Mo., departed this life Sunday, July 2, 2017.
He was born August 28, 1938, at Chanute, Kan., to Ruel Raymond Elmer and Viola Ruth (Rensing) Youngberg.
Norman was preceded in death by his parents and two infant children, Kelly and Gary.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Shirley Ray Youngberg, of the home; two sons, Richard Youngberg and wife, Lorraine, of Gurnee, Ill., and Patrick Youngberg, of Miami, Okla.; one daughter, Parmalee Engle and husband, Russell, of Wichita, Kan.; four step-children, Chris D. Gilstrap and wife, Denise, of Coralville, Iowa, Kimberly D. Gilstrap, of Iowa City, Iowa, Michael C. Gilstrap, of Jensen Beach, Fla., and Valerie Robertson and husband, Ryan, of Washington D.C.; one brother, Bill Youngberg and wife, Patty, of Springfield; one sister, Sharon Kiesel, of Springfield. He and Shirley together have 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his beloved dog, Mitzi, of the home.
The family will receive friends Sunday, July 9, from 2-4 p.m. at Greenlawn Funeral Home East, 3540 East Seminole, Springfield, MO, with rosary and prayer services beginning at 4 p.m. Funeral Mass will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, July 10, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2200 West Republic Road, Springfield, MO, with Rev. Thomas E. Reidy officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Chanute, Kan.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Catholic School and/or Building Fund or to the St. Patrick's Cemetery, Chanute, in his memory.
