Randall "Randy" Stephen Layne, age 67, Webb City, MO, passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2019, at Freeman West Hospital after a sudden heart attack. Randy was born December 12, 1951, in Joplin, son of the late Robert Andrew "Andy" Layne and Jean Frances Maeder Layne.
He grew up in Joplin, and graduated from Parkwood High School in 1969. He went through IBEW Electrical Apprentice School, and was a member of the Local #95 as a journeyman electrician. He worked for years with Layne Electric and Fagan Electric.
Randy, more than anything, loved his family, and the St. Louis Cardinals. His wife and daughters were the light of his entire life. We will miss him forever.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife's parents, to whom he was very close, Robert and Betty Carnes.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Cindy M. Carnes-Layne; daughters, Robin Layne, of Laguna Niguel, CA, and Macy Layne (and Jordon Vulgamore), of Kansas City, MO; grandchildren, Andy and Colin Cronin; brother, Mark Layne and wife, Cheryl; sister, Jane Layne Karns and husband, Jamie; brother, David Layne and wife, Lori, all of Joplin; brother-in-law, Kendall Carnes, of Joplin; nieces and nephews, Anna Brock, Adam Layne, Austin Karns, Alex Karns, Lauren Layne, Spencer Layne, Payton Layne, Matt Hoagland, Sara Shelton; and many aunts, cousins, great-nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, June 27, at 11 a.m. at Carterville Christian Church, with Pastor Robin Sigars officiating. The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Wednesday from 6 to 7 p.m.
