Robert's Story

Robert R. George, age 79, of Joplin, Mo., passed away Wednesday, September 6, 2017, in Joplin.
Bob was born April 28, 1938, in Bentonville, Ark. He moved to Joplin in 1999 from Wichita, Kan., where he was employed as assembly production manager for TWECO Products.
As a hobby, Bob owned Bob's Rod and Reel, a custom rod and fishing reel repair business in both Joplin and Wichita. Bob was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a member of the College Heights Christian Church.
Bob is survived by his wife, Mary K. (Brentlinger) George. Additional survivors include son, Rusty George and wife, Lorrie, Santa Clarita, Calif; daughter, April Shaw and husband, Tim, Phoenix, Ariz.; sister, Bertha George, Colorado Springs, Colo.; and four granddaughters, Naomi, Madelynn, Lindsey and Sidney. Bob was an extremely grateful and happy man with a big smile and known for loving Jesus and his family.
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at College Heights Christian Church Chapel. His son, Rusty, will officiate. Visitation will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to the College Heights Christian Church Transportation Ministry.
Cremation arrangements were entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary and Crematory.
