Rodney E. Harpster Rodney E. Harpster, 45, of Greenville, S.C., formerly of Parsons and Pittsburg, Kan., died Tuesday, March 15, 2016, at his home in South Carolina. His death was unexpected.
He was born Feb. 16, 1971, at Parsons, a son of Walter and Carol (Franklin) Harpster. He grew up in Mound Valley and attended school at Altamont.
Following high school, he served in the United States Army Reserve and was discharged in 1999. He then began working at Bemis Flexible Packaging, in Joplin, and worked there 18 years. He moved to Greenville in January to work at Amcor, which is located in Ashville, N.C.
On Oct. 13, 2012, he and Darnasha "Nene" Ward were united in marriage. She survives of the home.
He attended the St. Mary's Catholic Church, at Pittsburg. He enjoyed cars, working out, spending time with family and travelling.
In addition to his wife, survivors include one son, Nicholas "Nick" Morse, of Topeka, Kan.; one stepdaughter,Darlene Matthews, of Pittsburg; one stepson,Montrel Matthews, of Pittsburg; his parents, Walter and Carol Harpster, of Mound Valley, Kan.; his mother in-law, Darlene Harris, of Joplin; one brother, Doug Harpster and his wife, Bridget, of Independence, Kan.; three sisters, Cathy Robinson and her husband, Pat, of Coffeyville, Kan., Crystal Schnoebelen and her husband, Mike, of Cherryvale, Kan., Carolyn Forman and her husband, Will, of Cherryvale; four sisters- in-law, Demetrus Matthews and her companion, Durand Henderson, Webb City, Mo., Toni Harris and her companion, Leroy Dunn, of Carthage, Mo., Destini Harris, of Joplin, Gwen Scott and her husband, Ronnie, of Wichita, Kan. A host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, March 26, at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home, with Bishop Walter Simpson officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-8 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
