Sanford Lee Grimmett Jr.

Sanford Lee "Sandy" Grimmett Jr., 59, from Fairfield, Calif., formally from Carthage, Mo., passed away at 12:05 a.m. on September 3, 2018, at Kaiser Vallejo Hospital, in California, after a battle with cancer. He was a member of the Purcell Baptist Church.
Sandy was born in Carthage, November 30, 1958, to Sanford Grimmett Sr. (Nina) and Dolores Atnip and the late Max Atnip.
Sandy worked for Leggett and Platt before going to California. He was a very big fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, and he had a very big part of the Jasper Youth Baseball. He coached many young boys in Jasper.
On July 29, 1991, Sandy married Lourdes Vieyra, in California. She survives.
Also surviving, besides his parents, are a daughter, Tara West (Shawn), Raytown, Mo.; a son, Sanford Grimmett III, of the home; brothers, Mike Grimmett, Butch Atnip (Julie), Rodney Lillard (Sharon), all of Jasper, David Lillard (Pamela), Arkansas; sisters, Vickie Cawyer (Ed), Oronogo, Cindy Lillard and Brenda Hodson, Carthage; and one grandson, Anthony West, Raytown; and a host of family and friends.
A memorial service will be Saturday, September 15, at Purcell (Mo.) Baptist Church, 2 to 4 p.m. Come and celebrate his life with us, and bring your memories, so they may be passed to his wife and family.
Memorial donations may be made to the Jasper Youth Baseball, in care of SMB Bank of Jasper, 101 East Grand, Jasper, MO 64755.
