Shari J. Janss was born December 20, 1949, in Neosho, Mo., the daughter of Gerald W. Rowe and Viola Mary Jane (Long) Rowe Beatty. She was a lifelong area resident and graduated from Neosho High School in 1967. She continued her education and graduated with an associate's degree in business, a bachelor's degree in business education from MSSU, and a master's degree from PSU in marketing education and vocational education.
Shari began her teaching career in Seneca School system, 1975 to 1985, teaching business and serving as sponsor of FBLA and cheerleading. In 1985, she began teaching in the Neosho School system, teaching computer classes, business, marketing and COE, and was sponsor for the DECCA club, retiring in 2003. She was the recipient of the Teacher of the Year award from Seneca in 1985, Teacher of the Year from Neosho in 1987, and the Neosho Schools Diamond Award in 1997.
She enjoyed participating and supporting her grandchildren's activities, particularly attending livestock shows, and was a member of the Neosho First Baptist Church.
Shari and Steve Janss were married on April 5, 1969, in Neosho and he survives.
Additional survivors include one daughter, Leslee Kennedy and husband, Jarod, of Neosho; two grandchildren, Logan Kennedy and wife, Tayler, and Kendra Kennedy; and one brother, Wayne Rowe and wife, Lynette, of Carthage, Mo. She is preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, Dec. 22, at 10 a.m. at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, Dr. Todd Decker will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Clark Funeral Home.
