Shirley Ann (Oakley) Payton, age 80, of Miami, Okla., passed away at home after a long fight from congestive heart failure on Thursday, March 1, 2018.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Bobby Payton; their four daughters, Denise Payton (Roy), of Miami, Kimberly Karhoff (David), of Miami, Lorie Phillips (Bob), of Joplin, Mo., Teri Johnson (Chris) of Arlington, Tenn.; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Shirley grew up near Horse Creek and attended Iron Post School. She was the youngest of ten children.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her six brothers, Roy, Ray, Carl, Ralph, Bud, Ted; her three sisters, Ruby Austin, Ruth Geouge, and Dorothy Mays; and her granddaughter, Stephanie Fajardo.
Visitation will be held at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami on Monday, March 5th, from 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, March 6th, at 2 p.m. Graveside service will be at G.A.R. Cemetery. A reception will follow afterwards at the Paul Thomas Family Center.
