Sidney Sinclair Shouse, age 89, Joplin, Mo., passed away Monday, November 20, 2017, at Mercy Hospital after a short illness. Sidney was born December 25, 1927, in Baxter Springs, Kan., son of the late Sidney Davon Shouse and Lucille Harmon Shouse.
He graduated Baxter Springs High School in 1945. He then attended NEO A&M College. He received his BA from Missouri Southern State College and received his MBA from Drury College.
Sidney worked for Eagle Picher as an accountant and in 1968 went to work for Missouri Southern State College retiring in the mid 1990s. He held the position of controller and assistant vice president with the university. He was very proud of his work in helping Missouri Southern receive their "University¡"status.
Sidney married Ethelreda York, in Baxter Springs, in 1951. To this union was born five sons, David, Mark, Mike, Kevin and Kenneth. Ethelreda passed away in 2006.
He then married Florene Hessee Easley in 2008.
Survivors include three sons, Mark Shouse and wife, Machelle, Grove, Okla., Michael Shouse and wife, Lynne, Leawood, Kan., Kevin Shouse and wife, Jennifer, Neosho, Mo.; one daughter-in-law, Patti Shouse, Arvada, Colo.; one step-son, Harold Easley and wife, Elaine, Woodbury, Minn.; 12 grandchildren, Jayna Shouse Randall and husband, Grant, Dublin, Ohio, Eric Shouse and wife, Anita, Riverton, Kan., Jesse Kratz and husband, Andrew, Bend, Ore., Brianna Wessinger and husband, Greg, Kansas City, Mo., Jeff Shouse and wife, Sheila, Kansas City, Kan., Stephanie Claar and husband, Ben, Manhattan, Kan., Carrie Larson, Overland Park, Kan., Erica Larson and husband, Michel Chambon, South Bend, Ind., Jesse Bruce and wife, Karen, Neosho, Mo., Ryan Baillie and wife, Nikki, Cambodia, Courtney Osborn and husband, Dustin, Arvada Colo., Chad Baillie and wife, Natalie, Arvada; 20 great-grandchildren Kerrington Watkins, Ty Shouse, Trenton Shouse, Brayden Wessinger, Dean Wessinger, Owen Shouse, James Claar, Melody Claar, Joel Claar, Willow Claar, Simon Claar, Mason Bruce, Zeb Baillie, Jaya Baillie, Asher Baillie, Eden Baillie, Hudson Osborn, Beckett Osborn, Alana Baillie and Davis Baillie.
Additional survivors include one sister, Johanne Cooper and husband, Eddy, Grove; and one brother, Howard Shouse and wife, Cheryl, Girard, Pa.; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Sidney was preceded in death by two wives, Ethelreda "Corky" Shouse and Florene Easley Shouse; two sons, David Shouse and Kenneth Shouse.
Sidney "Grampy" enjoyed traveling, fishing and trips with his grandkids. He especially enjoyed his fishing trips with his sons and a special friend, Steve Earney.
Later in life, Sidney joined Faith Assembly of God, Joplin, and was privileged to help Pastor Larry Griffin and his wife, Iva, with the church accounting.

A visitation is planned for Saturday, November 25, from 1 - 2 p.m. at Derfelt's Baxter Chapel, Baxter Springs. Private family burial will be held at a later date.
