Violet F. Stark, 83, passed away December 15, 2017, in Carthage, Mo.
Violet was born November 18, 1934, in Carthage, to Elmer Thorn and Josephine Sloniker. She was a lifetime area resident and she retired from Schreiber Foods after 26 years. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, T.O.P.S. # 1157 and the Carthage Weight Watchers.
Violet was united in marriage to Alva Stark April 9, 1951, in Carthage. He preceded her in death October 27, 2004.
Violet is survived by two daughters, Brenda Seckman and husband, D.J., Mylinda Johnson; two sons, Charlie Stark and wife, Cathy, and Ed Stark and wife, Tracy, all of Carthage; 10 grandchildren, Jason Johnson, Justin Johnson, Jeremy Johnson, Melissa Stephson, Christy Cerrone, Adrian Brouillard, Amanda Wellnite, Stephen Stark, Alicia Sanderson and Eric Stark; 36 great- grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; four sisters, Velma Mitchell, of Carthage, Sue Carr, of Joplin, Lillie Tatum, of Carthage, and Berince Lynch, of Carthage; two brothers, Ervin Thorn, of Carthage, and Elmer Thorn, of Carthage. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; son-in-law, Walter Johnson; one sister, Mary Smith.
Services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 19, at Ulmer Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday, December 17, at Ulmer Funeral Home. Burial will be at Jasper Cemetery, east of Carthage.
Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, in care of Ulmer Funeral Home.
