William (Bill) Alvin Major was born on July 5, 1929, in Webb City, Mo., and went to meet the Lord on February 11, 2017.
Bill retired from Sears, where he worked for thirty years. Bill was stationed in El Paso, Texas, during the Korean War. He loved music and sang with the Calvarymen and Revelation Quartets for many years. Bill was a lifelong member of the Frisco Church of Webb City, where he served on the board, taught Sunday School, and led the volunteer choir. His hobby was stain glass and one of his pieces is presently displayed in the sanctuary of the Frisco Church.
Bill married Nancy Biggs in 1959.
Bill is survived by his wife, Nancy; his son, Michael Major and wife, Deanna; daughter, Cheryl Saia and husband, Scott; granddaughters, Kelcey Major, Kaylee Major, Jill Pile, and Gena Coomes; nieces, Jill ( Biggs ) Wells, and Jane (Biggs) Sperry; and nephew, Scott Biggs.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the Frisco Church in Webb City with the visitation starting at 10 a.m., Matt Snyder officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery.
Arrangements are under the direction of Simpson Funeral Home. Webb City.
