Wilma Mae Jones, 90, a lifetime resident of Weir, Kan., passed away March 7, 2018, at her home, surrounded by her family.
She was born Oct. 13, 1927, in Weir, Kan., the daughter of John L. and Marie (Sayer) Dugger. She was a graduate from Columbus High. Wilma worked for the U.S Postal Service for 32 years, she retired in 1992.
She married Herman Walker in 1946, in Norfolk, Va. He preceded her in death in November of 1962. She married Jay Jones, in Cherokee, Kan., on Jan. 8, 1967. He preceded her in death in September of 1993.
Wilma was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Kent Chapter #117, Post worthy Matron, District Aide of District #10, and American Legion Unit #274 Clarence Smith. She was a member of the Weir Methodist Church.
Survivors include son, Dean (Danny) Walker, of Joplin, Mo., two daughters, Eileen (Charles) Begando and Kristy Hull, both of Weir; two sisters, Dorothy Maxwell Parmele, of Kansas City, Mo., Marian (Art) Hartshorn, of Pittsburg, Kan.; four grandsons, Jason (Danya) Walker, of Joplin, Joshua Walker, of Granby, Mo., Dustin (Cherub) Hull, of Weir, Ben Hull, of Coffeyville, Kan.; two great-granddaughters, Renee Walker, of Joplin, Samantha Walker, of Joplin; great-grandson, Zane Bohr, of Weir; and several nieces and nephews. Wilma was preceded in death by both of her husbands and parents.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, March 12, at the Bath-Naylor Funeral Home, in Weir. Burial will follow at the Park Cemetery, in Columbus, Kan. Family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.
A memorial has been established to the Weir Methodist Church or Kent Chapter Eastern Star.
