Wilma Sue Meister, 75, of Carthage, Mo., passed away on Jan. 5, 2018 at her home after a long battle with cancer. She was born Oct. 31, 1942, to Bud and Ruth Smith, in Carthage, and was a life-long resident.
Wilma worked in the credit department for 40 years at Leggett & Platt, Inc. and was a member of the First Baptist Church, of Carthage.
Wilma was united in marriage to Ernal Meister on Nov. 16, 1962; they shared over 55 happy years together. He survives.
Wilma is also survived by one daughter, Julie Van Meter and her husband, John, of Carthage; one son, Steven Meister and wife, Jill, of Springfield; five grandchildren, Jennifer, Ashley, Kendall, Collin and Christian; two brothers, Neal Smith and wife, Sharon, of Carthage, and Glenn Smith, of Sarcoxie; one sister, Martha Cottrell and husband, Dennis, of Lee Summit.
Services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9, at Ulmer Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 8, at Ulmer Funeral Home, of Carthage. Burial will be at Red Oak Cemetery northeast of Carthage.
