Christine P. Betz, Neosho, Mo., passed away on March 17, 2017, at her home in Neosho, following a lengthy illness.
Christine was born March 20, 1939, in Benton County, Ark., the daughter of Arnold and Hazel Harris and she was a lifelong area resident. She was an educator and taught in the Joplin Public School system, retiring in 1982. She enjoyed living on the farm and was very family oriented. She was a member of Chapter JO-PEO and the Seneca Methodist Church.
Christine married Bobby G. Keeling and he and their daughter, Gayle Ann, were tragically killed in an automobile accident on October 10, 1967.
On Aug. 29, 1980, Christine and Dr. Richard Betz were married in Joplin and they shared 36 happy years together and he survives of the home.
Additional survivors include a son, Rick Keeling and wife, Carolyn, of Boulder City, Mo.; two stepsons, Dr. Steven Betz and wife, Theresa, of Mason City, Iowa, and Dr. David Betz, of Modesto, Calif.; former daughter in law, Auguree Betz; ten grandchildren, Bobby Keeling, David Keeling, Michael Betz, Daniel Keeling, Benjamin Keeling, Nathan Betz, Sarah Betz, Alex Betz, Sebastian and Nicholas Betz; one great-grandson, Ricky Keeling; and a sister, Joan Mitchell and husband, Keith, of Joplin, Mo.
Services will be Tuesday, March 21, at 10 a.m. at the Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, Rev. Doris Schlessman and Father Derek Swanson will officiate. Interment will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Butterfield, Mo. Friends may call at the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho on Monday evening from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.
