Claude M. "Buddy" Sasser, age 89, of Joplin, Mo., passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2017, at National Health Care, in Joplin, following an extended illness. Buddy was born January 12, 1928, in Dowling Park, Fla., to the late Slaytey Sasser and Cora Oldham Sasser.
Buddy retired from the U.S. Army, serving in the Special Forces for 20 years. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his wife and family.
On September 16, 1982, Buddy married Gwendolyn L. Key, in Dillon, N.C. She survives of the home.
Additional survivors include a stepdaughter, Teri Cahow and husband, David, of Chester, Va.; a granddaughter, Tori Diehl, of Midlothian, Va.
Buddy's wishes were to be cremated, with military honors, conducted at a later date in Virginia.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors, in care of the mortuary.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
