Connie Lou Green, 68, of Galena, Kan., passed from this life on Saturday, April 8, 2017, at Mercy Hospital, Joplin, Mo.
Connie was born April 7, 1949, in Baxter Springs, Kan., to the union of Bobby Gene and Betty Lou (Irwin) Vaughan.
Connie was united in marriage to John Lee Green on February 14, 1970, in Baxter Springs.
She worked as a nurse for the former St. John's Hospital and Freeman Hospital, retiring in 2012.
Connie was a member of the Ladies of the Lord and Prayer Warriors Group. She enjoyed arts and crafts, song writing, gardening and flowers.
She is preceded in death by her parents, and one son, Willy Green.
Connie is survived by her husband, John Green, of the home; one son, Josh Green and wife, Tiffany, of Columbus, Kan.; one daughter, Deidre Green, of Baxter Springs; two sisters, Joyce Keith and husband, Steve, of Baxter Springs, and Brenda Spear and husband, Jack, of Lowell, Kan.; one brother, Robert Vaughan and wife, Sara, of Galena; two stepbrothers, Butch Kinnamon and wife, Ruth, of Illinois, and Bobbie Vaughan and wife, Carla, of Baxter Springs; six grandchildren, Maddie Casada, of Oklahoma City, Okla., Skyelar Casada, of Galena, Emily Green McNett, of Midway Park, N.C., Rebecca Green of Columbus, KS, Trinidy Bass and Brayden Green, of Baxter Springs.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, April 13, at Derfelt's Baxter Chapel. Burial will follow in the Baxter Springs Cemetery. Pastor Geoff Buffalo will officiate the service. Family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers for the service are: Josh Green, Paul Weatherby, Craig Weatherby, Jason Keith, Carey McDonald, and Mike Jarrett.
