Donald Wayne "Don" Bilke, age 70, passed away Friday, March 24, 2017, at Freeman West Hospital following an illness.
Don was born February 25, 1947, in Joplin, Mo. His parents were Wayne and Esther (Graham) Bilke. He had lived in Baxter Springs, Kan., the past 20 years from Quapaw and Peoria, Okla.
He worked as a press mechanic at King Press, Joplin, for 23 years and was a member of the AFL-CIO Mechanics Union. He enjoyed collecting guns, and training his dogs.
He was married to Annie Marie Belin on September 5, 1997, in Eureka, Springs, Ark. She survives.
Surviving besides Annie Belin-Bilke of the home is one son, Joe Bilke, Baxter Springs; two step-children, Christopher Shawn Freeman, (wife, Kyra), Aurora, Colo., and A'Lecia Goins (husband, Mike), Miami, Okla.; and several grandchildren, including one grandson, Blake "Pete" Bilke whom he had a special bond with. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Randy Bilke.
Don was entrusted to Derfelt's Baxter Chapel for cremation. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 28, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association in care of the funeral home.
