Elizabeth Illidge, age 86, passed away on April 23, 2017 at her home in Wichita, KS. Born in Joplin on October 5, 1930, Elizabeth was one of eight children born to Mat and Nellie Genser. Elizabeth attended St. Peter Catholic School in Joplin and later received a bachelor degree from Wichita State University. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church while growing up in Joplin and married Robert Illidge at St. Peter's in 1953. Elizabeth and Bob raised five children while living in Joplin and Kansas City before settling in Wichita.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, their son, Andrew Illidge, her parents, Mathias and Nellie (Easley) Genser, and her siblings, Mary Benton, Margaret Schaeffer and Edward Genser.
Surviving loved ones include her children, Robert (Alicia) Illidge, Jr. of Kansas City, Sarah (Jim) Pirtle, Frances (Randy) Gaulding and Elizabeth (Brian) Garrett, all of Wichita; 15 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, brother, Matt Genser (Daniel Island, SC), sisters, Anne Stults (Phoenix, AZ), Frances Grigsby (Kansas City, MO) and Geneva Cusack (Joplin).
A Rosary will be held on Thursday, April 27th at 7:00 PM at the Blessed Sacrament Church in Wichita. On Friday, April 28th, a funeral mass will celebrate her life, beginning at 10:30 AM, also at the Blessed Sacrament Church.
