SHERMAN, Texas - Howard LeRoy Burris Jr. was born in Joplin, Mo., on August 2, 1946, to parents, Howard Burris Sr. and Dovey Lucille (Alexander) Burris, and passed away on June 11, 2017 at WJN Regional Medical Center at the age of 70.
Howard was an expert craftsman in the construction industry for over 40 years. He loved traveling with his best friend and wife, Linda, playing golf, spending time with his family and playing his favorite board game "Wahoo".
Howard served 3 years in the U.S. Army, in Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1970.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents and beloved brother, Jerry Lee Burris.
Survivors include devoted wife of 45 years, Linda Cottrell Burris; loving daughters, Shannon Burris Wright and Andrea Burris Honeycutt and son-in-law, Darren Honeycutt. Howard had nine grandchildren, Jeremy Nelson, Justin Nelson, Jessie Schultz, Jameson Flanders, Colby Burris, Erika, Delaina, Kayla and Dylan Honeycutt; and four great grandchildren, Tyler Burris, Vivian Burris, Xaiden Nelson and Scarlett Schimdt; as well as brother, Leo Burris and his wife, Cathy, and aunt, Gloria Gideon.
A visitation was held on Tuesday, June 13, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Waldo Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 14, at Grace United Methodist Church, with Pastor Leon Veazey officiating.
