James Calvin Graffis Sr., 77, Neosho, Mo., entered into rest on May 10, 2017, in Joplin, Mo., following a short illness.
James was born December 4, 1939, in Wahpeton, N.D. He served in the United States Air Force and retired after 23 years of service. Following his military retirement, he worked in quality control in the aircraft manufacturing industry.
James enjoyed casinos and was a strong family man and enjoyed visiting family up north.
James and Gisela Klose were married on June 4, 1980, and he was dedicated and passionate about visiting her in Inola, Okla.
In addition to his wife, James is survived by six children, James Graffis Jr., Julie DuVall and husband, David, Jay Graffis and wife, Kellie, Laurie Brekke, Tina Movick and husband, David, and Jerry Graffis and wife, Jennifer; four brothers, Larry Graffis, Jerry Graffis and wife, Darlene, David Graffis and Donnie Perkins; five sisters, Ruthie DeNaeyer and husband, Larry, Bonnie Riley, Winifred Seward and husband, Everett, Phyllis Graffis and Sally Graffis; grandchildren, Kyle, Kristopher, Kody, Kasey, Danté, Morgan, Ericka, Brigitte, Elisabeth, Summer, Tanner, Tarah, Jenah, Adison, Aaron, Ricky, Sean, Jasmine and Michael; and three great-grandchildren, Emily, Lucas and Lily and one due to arrive in December. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by twin sons, Randy and Ricky Graffis; grandchildren, Hanah Graffis, Katie Thronson and Mikah Graffis; and a brother, Dale Perkins.
Funeral services will be Monday, May 15, at 10 a.m. at the Promiseland Fellowship Church, Pastor Lance Mittag will officiate. Interment and military honors will follow in the Hazel Green Cemetery and grandsons, Kyle Thronson, Kristopher Thronson, Kody Thronson, Kasey Thronson, Dante` Duvall and Tanner Movick will serve as pallbearers.
